When you find a new actor you like on TV or in a movie, do you ever wonder as I do – Where did they come from?  How did they make it to this show?  This movie?  What are they like as a person?  Are they doing the kind of work they hoped to do?

Ebony and I went to downtown Norcross last Saturday for a photo session.  She likes comedy – even talked about liking “That’s So Raven.”  She hopes to start in commercials and work her way to acting in roles that suit her.  She is lovely – quiet and sweet.  She is quick to smile and is confident.  She is kind – as she was leaving the session she was heading to have brunch with teen girls who need the influence of  someone to look up to.

That is who she is now.  It will be a joy to follow her career – to see who she is in a year… in 5 … in 10 years.  To see where her career takes and to wish for her that she enjoys each new opportunity that comes her way.  Who knows?  Maybe I will see her face on the Small screen soon!   How cool would that be?034 moc CLA 07102010

The Foster’s home – on the 2009 Norcross Tour of Homes – was the most Victorian on the tour. Julie and Tom have lovingly restored this beautiful house. Julie, who designs landscapes,  created the perfect backyard for Santa to take a nap while he gets ready for his big night (make sure you scroll to the bottom to see!) I trust you will enjoy this glimpse one of the many beautiful homes in Historic Norcross!!

It’s been a busy week here with our studio.  We have started working with the southeast division of AECOM – a global company providing technical & management support services who just consolidated all of their Atlanta offices into a midtown location.    It has been fun meeting all of the professionals working in this location – engineers, planners, landscape architects – to name a few and to hear their stories as I photographed each person in the office.

Headshots are interesting.  How to make each person comfortable in a few minutes, and get them to enjoy the process with a result they will like??    Really – no one truly likes to get their picture taken.  BUT –  We all like to share about ourselves.   So while I snapped  I learned about new babies, hiking trails, the joy of grandchildren, stories of pets, favorite movies – and so much more!

The gift of a smile is wonderful and this week has been filled to the brim with them!  Here are a few of the ones I had the privilege of seeing at AECOM!

Ok – not literally – but it made you think twice. :)

One of the dreaded tasks you may have is to get a good headshot. One that you will be proud to share because it looks good … not like a deer in the headlights school yearbook picture.

How to get a good headshot? Find a photographer whose work you like – make sure their style of headshots is what you are wanting. Interview them to make sure they know how to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Make sure you know the cost involved. Arrive a few minutes early to your appointment to speak with the photographer before she begins the session. Let her know where your headshot will be used.

This past week Susie came into our studio. With the changing times she is going back into financial planning and needed good headshots for her marketing pieces. Nervous, she asked a lot of questions before the appointment. What should she wear – style of makeup – accessories, etc. After the shoot she posted her headshot choices on Facebook. Her friends all sent glowing feedback to her.

One friend in particular wanted images for her high school reunion and for Facebook. Sharon called and we walked through all her questions. She “never” gets a good picture. I reassured her she would be safe in my hands. Her session came and Sharon was delighted with the results! She chose an additional image as she was so pleased with her headshots.

It is always a great feeling to know that a great headshot we have done is set on business cards, in marketing pieces, on Facebook pages… Knowing how important a headshot is in putting your best foot forward, I make sure you look great. I shoot people… well!

Ok… first the move of all things Seitz Photography to our new location… then tearing up carpet for a new studio floor… hanging pictures so people can see what we do… meeting with people so they can choose the prints they want created… or with brides as they talk about photographing their wedding – PHEW! we have been busy!
In the midst of the sore muscles and trying to find everything , came 3 women who made us remember the joy of why we do this! Christine – a transplant from CA looking to model in Atlanta… Ashley – an actress needing a new portfolio look … Christy – a young businesswoman up for an award. Each one came in to our lives and shared a bit of their story. It was my pleasure to photograph their beauty and their style in the middle of the boxes still waiting to be unpacked. Thank you, all three, for making it worthwhile to be a photographer – even one who needs Ben-gay to make it through the day!
